Headington Action Grants
Headington Action funds one-off grants to non-profit and voluntary organisations for projects that engender community activities within the Headington Action/Headington Neighbourhood Forum Area (see map).
The decison making process for awards is shown at the bottom of the page.
Previous grants awarded by HA may be viewed here.
There are two schemes:
“Small Sparks” grants Criteria for awarding of a Small Sparks grant:
- The project will be based within the Headington area.
- It should enable a definitive ‘deliverable’ in a short time frame (i.e. it should not be an ongoing project involving a regular payment, but is a one-off grant).
- It should be a start-up activity (e.g. poster printing or photocopying for a new residents’ association).
- It should offer a wider community benefit with an outcome available to others in the Headington area.
- It should involve many people rather than a few.
- Applicants should have no or limited other sources of finance.
- Help will be particularly considered for less well-established groups.
- The normal upper limit for a grant is £250 (which may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances) and cannot be retrospective.
- Applicants should acknowledge Headington Action’s contribution on any publicity.
- Feedback from the applicant to Headington Action is required.
Community Support grants These are for projects that do not fit the “Small Sparks” criteria.

Award Decision Making Process
Completed forms are forwarded first to the Executive and then to the full HA committee for decision. (HA committee meetings are held every two months on the last Wednesdays of January, March, May, July, September and November. The Executive normally meets on the last Monday of intervening months. There might be a slight variation in the pattern if the usual meeting falls on, or near, a public holiday.)
